About
Written by two new arrivals in Salisbury, the Salisbury Scrutineer aims to share those useful gems about this wonderful medieval city and its environs with the rest of the world, as we discover them.
We will be unashamedly selective with what we cover on here. Stay tuned if you like a nice cup of tea and a sit down, real ale, proper cider, history, strange folk customs, giants, proper food, and proper places that sell it. Surf off somewhere elese if lager-vending sports pubs and shopping centres are your thing (we hear Southampton is good for this)…
Oh, and we don’t use a car, so it’s all from the perspective of two people who walk, cycle, use trains, or catch a bus to get about.
Most places mentioned in this blog will hopefully have a link at the bottom of each post allowing you to view where it is in Google Maps, Google Earth, Multimap, and Microsoft Virtual Earth. Salisbury is fortunate enough to just about be covered by Google’s high resolution satellite images, which is nice.
